Rarely do I review a book the author suggests when the suggestion comes from a Twitter direct message. But when Brian Heasley offered to send me a copy of GateCrashing, I was eager to dive into the book.
I’ve never met Brian but know many who have. They all tell me about his amazing journey in life, his huge heart, and how God is working through him in places like Ibiza, Spain.
You see, Brian was the director of 24-7 Prayer in Ibiza, which some call the party capital of the world. It’s certainly the party capital for young Brits looking for a good time on holiday. It’s wild, sexual, and filled with drugs and alcohol. It’s also dangerous, lonely, and sad when you see people bruised by the lifestyle.
Which is what Brian and his wife Tracy saw for seven years while directing the 24-7 Prayer team. The book is the story of those years. Brian is transparent throughout, explaining how his faith was tested, and being honest about his own failings. But the focal point of the book is how God shows up with compassion, healing, and peace. Badly needed ingredients in a place like Ibiza.
For a first time author, this is a very well written book. Brian is an excellent communicator and knows how to tell a story. Thanks, Brian, for pinging me on Twitter and making the suggestion. I hope to meet you in person sometime soon and hear more!
