Several months ago my friend Ken Wytsma asked me to comment on a book he was writing. He sent the pdf version and it surprised me to learn the topic was on creativity. Not that Ken isn’t a creative person — just the opposite actually. He’s written two books already, started the significant Justice Conference, pastored a church in Bend, and launched a new college. He’s plenty creative! But it’s rare to see a ministry leader focus on a topic that is usually the domain of social scientists or tech leaders.
The first draft of Create vs. Copy: Embrace Change. Ignite Creativity. Break Through with Imagination was good. The second was way better. And the third draft — which you can pre-order now — is tremendous.
Ken explores the creative process and emphasizes just how important it is for every person or organization. Where the book really shines is when he delves into the theology of creativity and links it to God’s created order, the creativity of God himself, and our being made in the image of God. Here is where Ken shares truly new insights that makes me put the book on the highly recommended list.
I’ve ordered my copy and Amazon says it arrives around March 1st. When it does I’ll be reading it again, and I look forward to creative conversations with Ken over a bottle or two of red wine. That’s one downside of Ken — he gets me to drink too much. The upside: he only drinks gawdawful Pinot Noir, leaving more Cabernet Sauvignon for me.
Order it now from Amazon. You won’t be disappointed.
