A day in the life…

An eclectic day.  I spent an hour on the phone with a former runway model, who is starting a ministry and needed advice.  I so wanted her to be the blonde airhead, but she was smart and witty.  So much for stereotypes.

Then had a meeting with my maintenance crew, which is about as far from the fashion runway as you can get!  Too many of my guys use to work in the junkyard.  I love ’em.

Followed by a slew of silly emails and facebook postings about names for D’Aun’s olive oil business.  A lot of really BAD ideas, but it was a fun exercise.

Then an intellectually challenging conversation with a friend in San Francisco who is starting…well, it’s hard to define.  And radical in its own way.  Let’s just call it a post-modern seminary and discipleship program rolled into one.

Next, a heartfelt phone call with a dear friend who is dealing with some tough family issues.  The kind of issues that make you question yourself.  She’s handling it really well, but it’s still difficult.

A short conversation with a tenants representative.  In under 5-minutes, negotiated terms and sealed the deal.  Wish everything went that smoothly!

Next, a call from a pastor friend who is negotiating to lease space for his church.  They have a way-cool building in mind and I hope they can make it work.  Great time to be a tenant.

Several emails and phone calls about management changes at Goble Properties.  Change is difficult for everybody.  Only wish there was a graceful way to make tough decisions.

Finalized details for the Emerging Ministries Board of Directors retreat, or at least the details that have to do with where and when.  I still need to figure out what I’m going to share with the board, but it’s a month away.

Tonight, dinner with friends who run a shelter for abused women.

There’s more, but that gives a flavor to the day.  Signing off so I can get a workout in before then!
