Several people have pointed out that this blog has a really dumb name. “Roy Goble’s Blog” isn’t exactly an inspiration. Descriptive, yes, but …. still lacking.
I’ve thought about changing the name to something that reflects my life. How about “Chaotic”? Or possibly “living in the tension”? Both taken. “Junkyard dog”? Kind of a cliche, but still reasonably accurate. As a teenager at the junkyard my nickname was “the kid” but that’s kind of silly for a 50-something man.
Friends of mine have cool names for their blogs. The Temple. The Moxy Project. Let’s Put the Kettle On. Re: Birth. Shangri La. Managing Turbulence. Or my son’s simple and direct name that still has a creative edge to it, jedd writes.
Me? I’m stuck with Roy Goble’s Blog. Sigh. I’m lousy at naming things. Every significant organization I’ve ever founded was named by somebody else. Hidden Lakes Retreat? Named by my friend Suzanne. Target Earth? Gordon gets credit for that one. PathLight? Joe Rehfeld’s idea. D’Oliva was a combination of D’Aun’s idea and a Facebook poll. Seriously, I come up with dumb stuff like “Goble Properties”.
Clearly, I need help!!!
So, I’m launching a contest. You come up with a good name, I’ll send you a bottle of my favorite wine. If you know me, that means a bottle of really really good wine. I’ll ship it to anywhere you live (Africa, China, Brazil….okay, maybe not North Korea or Saudi Arabia…but anywhere else).
The name needs to reflect me and my life, be original so as not to be confused with some other blog, and be sane enough to not completely embarrass D’Aun.
Let me know if you have any ideas!
