My friends either have tons of creativity, or way too much time on their hands. I say that because we had nearly 100 names suggested for the Name That Barrel Contest! Absolutely amazing!
D’Aun and I sorted through the nominees and have narrowed it down. My apologies to all of you who didn’t make the cut, but thanks for your help. Even the bad ideas helped the brainstorming!
So here is the narrowed down list:
“Drink. Enjoy. Repeat.” Suggested by Jolene, this made me smile. Simple, clear, and fun.
“Shortcut.” Suggested by Rachel, this is a classic line in our family. We would hike a lot and Jedd was always looking for a shortcut (which were often longer than the normal path). The word has a double meaning here because our effort to create this wine is a shortcut; we’re simply buying an existing wine and putting our own label on it!
“Corner Pocket.” Nominated by Jedd, it’s a tribute to his forefathers. My grandfather was a hustler, my father loved billiards, and there’s been a pool table around our family for … well, forever.
“Covered Bridge.” Another nomination from Jedd. Our family ranch has a wonderful covered bridge at the entrance.
“Gazebo.” D’Aun was the first to nominate this word. Our backyard gazebo is where we enjoy great food, drink great wine, talk story, host friends, and celebrate life.
“Ranch Hands.” A clever nomination from Kevin, this refers to our family ranch where the olives grow. There’s a strong family history (both on my side and D’Aun’s side) of farming and ranching.
So these are the finalists, and I’d love your final votes. Let me know what you think!
