If you follow my blog then you know that I’m passionate about my family, small business, and global issues. You might pick up on the fact that I love the arts, though I don’t mention them here as often as I should.
So my post today fits right into the sweet spot. Studio Unfiltered opens Saturday, and I am really excited about this new gallery. Why? Well let me list just a few of the reasons ….
– The founder of Studio Unfiltered is my daughter, Rachel. Her vision for Studio Unfiltered comes from her exploration of the intersection of justice and the arts.
– Studio Unfiltered will exhibit artists whose work brings awareness to local and global justice issues. So one show might feature oil paintings that capture the challenge of poverty in Africa, another might feature photography of environmental degradation, or another might feature artwork that has us see the world through the eyes of kids in Asia.
– All of the net proceeds from the sale of artwork will benefit (among other worthy needs) kids at risk around the world, such as those being served by The SOLD Project. Or the students in Belize that are served by PathLight International.
– My company Goble Properties provided the space for Studio Unfiltered at a discounted rate, which will maximize the benefits given to worthy non-profit organizations. The studio is at 5765 Valley Avenue, Pleasanton, California. Right next to Peet’s Coffee.
– Rachel has gathered a team of passionate artists and visionaries to pull the whole thing together. I’m excited about what these young leaders can do.
– The Grand Opening, this Saturday from 7-10 PM, is going to feature Kids + Cameras. Two professional photographers flew to Thailand with ten Nikon cameras. They trained a group of kids on the basics of photography, and the results are incredible.
So can you see why I’m excited? Studio Unfiltered weaves together many of the things I love. In particular, of course, my daughter’s heart!
PS Want to help Studio Unfiltered have great success? Then attend the grand opening! Just be sure to RSVP on their website. Or if you know an artist whose work might be perfect for this, let me know and I’ll pass along the info to Rachel.
