My PathLight letters often begin with an update and a welcome. But this month I got right to the point because the news is so important.
PathLight has a $35,000 matching gift offer, and we need your help to match it. Once matched, this will provide $70,000 to launch PathLight into its 7th year (yes, it really is the start of our 7th year). It’s a great opportunity.
It all begins with your gift. And now more than ever it matters.
Nineteen young boys and girls can complete a year of school. Over 150 teachers can sharpen their teaching skills. Hundreds of volunteers can be mobilized to impact dozens of classrooms.
All because you step forward and help us match the gift and provide $70k for the 7th year.
In the small village of St. Margaret’s, located in the rainforest of Belize along a two-lane highway, sits a small K-8 school. Few if any of the students go on to high school. Most of their parents didn’t complete primary school. And the high school is a long way away, an expensive bus ride each day. But the students believe they can make a difference if given the chance.
You can give them that chance. Your gift in December will be matched, doubling the impact financially, allowing a student to continue in school. You can make the $70k for the 7th year happen.
In another nearby village sits a government school. A dozen teachers work in open-air classrooms. They ride the public bus for miles to work in this overlooked school. They work hard with virtually no supplies, on limited training, in stifling heat. But they are faithful because they believe they can make a difference.
So can you. This month your gift will double the size of our Teacher Training Conference. Hundreds of teachers will learn how to positively impact thousands of kids. The $70k for the 7th year can be a reality.
In yet another village, volunteers put a new roof on a classroom. Nearby other volunteers are leading a computer workshop for students. Just outside their window a new playground is being built by yet another set of volunteers. They are having an impact. They are making a difference.
