PathLight’s $70k for the 7th Year campaign continues to move forward this month, and I’m excited to see the response! I thought it would help to share why your support matters, so here are the three ways the funds will be used:
First, nineteen (19) students waiting for sponsorship will receive the support, guidance and encouragement they need for a successful year of high school. The PathLight Sponsorship Program identifies promising students who have completed 8th Grade but need assistance to continue their education into high school.
These are students like Alex. Alex’s family has a small shop that provides enough income for food but not enough for the fees, transportation, books, supplies, lunch and other costs associated with high school. PathLight is seeking a sponsor to enable Alex to attend high school, and your gift can make a huge difference in his life.
And let me introduce you to Adela. Adela received numerous awards at her graduation from primary school: she was the salutatorian of her class, student of the year, first in math, second in language arts, first in science, and first in social studies. Not surprisingly, Adela is doing great in her first semester of high school!
Your support for the $70k for the 7th Year campaign will help students just like Adela and Alex.
Second, the PathLight Teacher Training Program will be able to almost double in size and impact. Last year over 130 Belizean teachers attended a week of training led by experienced North American teachers. The local Belizean school district has partnered with us in this work, and they were so impressed they asked if we could host even more of their teachers next year!
Your support in December will help PathLight work with those teachers. And that impact goes beyond just helping them be better teachers – it’s about equipping them to grow spiritually, personally, and academically. Their growth as teachers can have an impact on thousands of students in their classrooms!
Third, a portion of your gift in December will be used to coordinate hundreds of volunteers. These volunteers are both Belizean and North Americans who believe there is hope through faith and learning. They take time from their lives to invest in hope. Or as I like to say, they enter into a Christ-centered exchange of hope.
Last year over 900 volunteers attended workshops, built classrooms, led computer classes, and worked on a wide variety of projects that impacted students, teachers, and whole communities. Next year we expect even more! And as you might guess, this takes a lot of coordination. Your gift will help catalyze the efforts of these volunteers.
The goal of raising $70,000 to launch PathLight into the 7th year will have a huge impact on students like Alex & Adela, hundreds of teachers, and hundreds more volunteers.
Please join us! Your gift is doubled in December through the matching gift. Please click on this link for the $70k for the 7th Year campaign and help change a student’s life.
Thank you!
