Okay, so it’s been a week and I’ve gathered over 75 “name that barrel” nominations! An amazing response; thanks for all who made a suggestion. You are a creative bunch!
Of course, many of those 75 suggestions were really rubbish. But sometimes the bad ideas trigger the good ones. Or at least made the mediocre ones look good.
So after groaning at bad puns, chuckling at the occasional off color humor, and rolling my eyes at the really lousy ideas, here are the finalists in no particular order:
– Ragtop. Aimee at Goble Properties came up with this fun name to link the wine with our family love for classic cars.
– Shortcut. My daughter Rachel suggested this in the first contest a few years ago and it is still one of my favorites. My son was always taking a shortcut as a kid. Some say he still does!
– Corner Pocket. Another finalist from the first contest a few years ago, Jedd suggested this one because of our family history with billiards.
– Rosie Red. This one is my idea. My Mom was one of the original Rosie the Riveters and I could see that image on the label. Downside: Mom is a strict teetotaler!
– Undeserved Reserve. Got this from a twitter nomination and it made me smile. Thanks, Kevin.
– Sharp Turn. Family friend Peter came up with this because he knows how much fun Jedd and I had at the racetrack earlier this year.
– Remember Big. My assistant Anne suggested this one. It’s from a lesson that Tony Campolo taught me — never lie, but feel free to remember big. My daughter has tossed that back in my face more than once!
– Twenty Minutes. Another one from Anne. When my kids asked me how much further to go, my answer was always “twenty minutes” whether it was a week or just a second.
– Aging Metaphor. My friend Mark Button came up with this and it made me laugh out loud. Mark should also get recognition for the sheer number of nominations he made via Facebook!
So those are the finalists. Unless somebody comes up with something even better, one of those is going to end up on the 2012 Zinfandel that we hope to have in a couple of months.
What do you think? Which one do you like the best?
