You know what I did about two weeks ago? I hit “send” on an email to my publisher that contained my book. Manuscript submitted!
Yep, I really did it. I wrote a book. Wow!
Of course there is still a lot of work to do. Editing starts now, which I know is going to be painful. And then work on cover designs and layout and gathering endorsements and all that.
But hey, I wrote a book! That’s pretty cool.
And it came out far better than I expected. In part because I asked a lot of people for help. David Jacobsen was the biggest reason — his writing is excellent and he’d push me to dig deeper on key topics. He deserves much of the praise (and will be listed as a co-author).
Now I need to write the acknowledgements. Yikes. How do you thank the hundreds of people who helped? I mean literally hundreds. From Australia to Zimbabwe, people taught me lessons that ended up in this book.
Obviously I can’t mention them all, but there is no doubt D’Aun deserves special mention. She was beside me through the whole crazy journey. Thanks hon!
So onward to the next stage of the process. I’ll let you know how it goes.
