I returned from Belize a week ago and I’m still excited about the amazing things happening there. PathLight is doing something special and the team is up to something big!
The trip began with a staff retreat on the coast, and it was fun to hang out with such great people. We had productive meetings of course, but we also had delicious meals together, sang karaoke songs on the pier (well, okay, the others sang as I laughed with them), and enjoyed the beautiful Caribbean.
Conversations ranged from forward looking ideas about expansion to basic housekeeping topics like the staff handbook. The devotions were especially wonderful — Christine had us on the beach under the moon, Dennis led a meaningful worship time, and I focused my teaching on the call to be known by our love for each other.
It was encouraging to see how the PathLight staff applied such passion to the work they do. Kids are being transformed, teachers are growing into their roles, and whole communities are being engaged.
Jaguar Creek is also going strong. Keith shared how the mission of Jaguar Creek serves PathLight and Belize. He took the time to outline the past, present and future of Jaguar Creek, which was both reflective and visionary.
My friend Bishop Philip Wright, his wife Carla, his big sister, and his chaplain all visited with me on Palm Sunday. It was fun to spend time with them and hear about the work they are doing in Belize City. We talked about a future partnership and dreamed big about serving the people of Belize.
It was one of the most productive and fun trips I’ve had to Belize in a long time. Want to go with me next time? Drop me a note and we can talk!
