Last week Goble Properties sold Perez Business Park in Cathedral City. It brings an end to a great experience operating the property. Perez was the perfect property type for Goble Properties: all small units, occupied by small businesses, mostly locally owned, and deeply connected to the community.
One significant downside is it means our long time manager, Phyllis, will be retiring at the end of this week. Well, retiring in the sense she won’t have a full-time job in property management. Something tells me she’s going to be an incredible volunteer for several amazing nonprofit organizations. I can’t wait to see her operating a water cannon to combat illegal fishing in the Gulf of Mexico!
Phyllis was a loyal, smart, and talented manager who kept the Perez property looking fantastic. She worked there even before we purchased the property and the first smart thing we did was hire her to stay. Actually, that was the only smart thing we had to do because she ran the property so well and without a lot of direct oversight.
Throughout our years operating Perez — from 9/11 to the housing boom to the banking crash to the modest recovery — Phyllis knew how to navigate all the challenges.
We’re going to miss working with Phyllis, but we look forward to her postcards arriving from all parts of the world. Stay in touch, Phyllis, and thanks for everything!
