Dear Santa,
It’s been a long time since I wrote a Christmas letter, but I haven’t forgotten you. It’s just been a busy life. Hoping all is well with you and the missus up North. Cold as always? Did Rudolph get the medication he needed for the sinus problem?
This year we have our usual long list. I know, I know … I’m supposed to write every year. But it’s just easier to tell you in person. Since the lines at the mall are insane this year, here’s the list.
Jedd is super thankful for the job at AOL Alpha doing iOS development, and promises to explain what that means the next time he sees you. This year he’d love time to brew four more batches of beer, have as good a birthday party as he did on his 30th, and visit Atlanta with Margaret again. And if you feel really generous, a puppy would be especially nice in 2017!
Rachel thanks you for the opportunity to travel the world and serve kids through her work with The SOLD Project. She thinks a third annual trip to Hong Kong to speak at the Justice Conference would be amazing, so maybe you could set that up? And maybe you could add on a chance to see the Great Wall of China again like you did this year?
D’Aun says thanks for the visit to Washington to attend the National Prayer Breakfast, Kentucky to see friends, Truckee to see more friends, and Florida for a fun conference. She was upset about losing our beloved Sadie so suddenly, but is truly in love with the new Golden Retriever puppy Sammie. You did well picking out that goofball. D’Aun would love for you to bring another trip to NYC with girlfriends, and is hoping for another great D’Oliva olive harvest.
As for me, well, I’m still shocked you gave me 35 amazing years of marriage with D’Aun! That’s the most incredible gift I’ve ever had. So hopefully – as long as I don’t spend too much time on real estate, book writing, PathLight, Westmont, golf, reading, wine tasting, and old cars – you’ll give me 36 years in 2017. Oh, and thanks for Junkyard Wisdom being published, and hoping maybe you’ll let me do another one? Last thing on my list: how about giving the Giants a bullpen, for crying out loud?
One thing our entire family asks. Please bring joy, peace, and unity to our nation and world. We need it as badly as ever. I know that’s beyond what you can promise, but you’re a Saint, so maybe you could put in a word to Jesus, and he could talk to his Dad?
Thanks. And hoping all your dreams and hopes for 2017 come true.
Roy, D’Aun, Rachel, and Jedd (plus Sammie)
PS Let’s get together for lunch next year when your travel schedule calms down
