A few good summer books:
I’m a latecomer to the blockbuster of a few years ago, The Art of Racing in the Rain, by Garth Stein. A novel with an amazing dog and amazing people (some of whom race cars). How could I not love this book? A great summertime read if you’re needing escape. Gotta love Enzo.
Something political? Check out Democracy, by Condoleezza Rice. Brilliant overview of how democracy has spread across the world, and the key components we must protect.
How about something about your faith? It’s hard for me to admit, but Dethroning Mammon, by Justin Welby, is even better than my book. Sigh, yes, the Archbishop of Canterbury is more insightful than I am. Oh well, I’ll keep trying.
If you enjoy history, check out Protestants: The Faith That Made the Modern World, by Alec Ryrie. I’m about 20% through this book and loving it.
If you love baseball and need to find a reason to engage with the game even though the Giants are awful, then Casey Stengel by Marty Appel is a really fun read. What a character he was!
So there you go. Enjoy the summer!
