It’s back to school time! Millions of students are returning to school this time of year, and almost all of them are receiving some degree of financial aid. Not just college students — but anybody who attends a public school, in any nation, is receiving a subsidized education. Even those who attend private school are being assisted by an endowment or scholarship.
We’re fortunate in America to have good school systems and generous donors (or local governments) who provide for students. Unfortunately, in Belize, the government struggles to meet the needs of students, especially thousands who live in poverty. Secondary education (high school) is not free, making it even harder for families in poverty. Many parents can’t afford to send their children to school.
That’s why this year PathLight is having a Back to School campaign. The money raised in this campaign will help at-risk students stay in school. It’s the single best way to ensure the student is employed after graduation. Plus it allows students to contribute back to their society, building the support infrastructure a young nation needs.
And PathLight has an exciting matching gift opportunity. For every dollar raised, up to $50,000, a donor is going to match the gift. This will double the impact of your gift and help even more students go to school.
As a co-founder of PathLight, I’m hoping you’ll join me in giving toward this campaign. You can learn more about it here, but you’re more than welcome to drop me an email if you have questions. Thank you!
