Last week was a busy one. For three days my focus was completely on the final manuscript of my second book, and now I can say all 30+ chapters are written!
Notice I didn’t say the chapters were “done.” They are written, but now the tough part begins as we edit, cut, shape and form the overall package. We might (oh dear!) even cut a whole chapter.
One old wag — Faulkner? — said “in writing, you must kill all your darlings.” That’s hyperbole I hope, but you get the idea. It’s tough cutting things I’ve written!
Some of the style of the first book has made its way into this second book. The snarky sarcasm, for one. The curious (if not always helpful) footnotes for another. And, more seriously, the tension. Always the tension of life, faith, and hope.
And yes, I am already thinking of a third book. But not too deeply. I want this second one to be fantastic before I invest a lot of energy into something else.
Let me know if you have questions. Or if you have ideas. I’m always curious to hear what others are thinking about book ideas, writing, wealth, leadership, faith, etc.
Last thing, before I forget. We’re now actively recruiting for Junkyard Wisdom Belize. Love to have you join us if you’re interested!
