How to Pray is a great book about prayer. It’s simple, approachable, and filled with engaging stories. If you struggle with prayer (as I often do) this is an encouraging book.
On a personal note, Pete likes to say he and I met in a bar in Hawaii almost a decade ago (more or less true, though I remember it as a restaurant). We immediately hit it off. Since then we have prayed together in Norman era churches and drank wine with friends as we watched a California sunset. Just last week he and his wife Sammy joined me and D’Aun for dinner in an English castle — which was incredibly fun. We don’t get together often, but when we do it is always memorable.
All of Pete’s personality — a love for life, a joy in his faith, and a humble spirit — comes through in this book. Pete really has brilliant insights into prayer, but he makes that wisdom simple for all of us to understand. The method of Pause, Rejoice, Ask and Yield to structure prayer is a great way to focus.
If the topic interests you, or if you’ve been avoiding the question of prayer, then get a copy of this book. You won’t be disappointed.
