Book Reviews, PathLight,

PathLight and Becoming Brave

Brenda

I’m going to be interviewing my friend Brenda Salter McNeil in an online forum on October 30. It’s completely free, and I’d love for you to join. Here’s a bit of background about how this came about and why Brenda is my guest.

Most of the readers of this blog know that I’m a co-founder of PathLight International, and I currently serve as board chair for the organization. PathLight provides educational opportunities for at-risk youth in Belize.

Every year I organize what we call PathLight Conversations. This is typically a luncheon with a fascinating guest speaker, like Bob Goff or Shane Claiborne. It’s not a fundraiser, just a chance to gather people together and learn a bit more about an important topic of the day.

Well, a very important topic of the day is racial justice. So this year we have a special guest: Dr. Brenda Salter McNeil, the author of Becoming Brave. Brenda will join me on October 30 at noon Pacific time for an interview about her experience in racial reconciliation. We invite you to join us for this free event and for a chance to receive a free copy of her book.

I’ve known Brenda and her husband Derek for nearly 20 years, and there are few people I admire more. She has a unique blend of joy, grace, and wisdom that is sure to inspire you. Brenda is recognized internationally as one of the foremost thought leaders of reconciliation and was featured as one of the 50 most influential women by Christianity Today. Between her speaking, writing, and reconciliation work, she also serves as an Associate Professor at Seattle Pacific College and Associate Pastor at Quest Church in Seattle.

Brenda, who has visited PathLight’s work in Belize several times, says, “I love the fact that PathLight is committed to raising up the next generation of young people to be leaders in their country. That is consistent with my calling.”

Brenda has worked for decades to bring racial reconciliation and justice to the church. Her insights have never been more relevant than they are today. You can register for this event here, and remember it is completely free.

I hope you can join us!
