I’m been hinting about this . . . and now it’s time to share. Over the past year I’ve written a series of devotions for Advent. They are short (a one-minute read) and will be emailed each morning to your inbox. It all starts on November 27.
These are not your typical devotions. They have a junkyard flavor in the sense they are very, very human. It’s a road trip to Bethlehem, sorta.
These are also not your typical Advent insights. It follows the untold story of Mary & Joseph as they process everything happening around them. As I say in the opening, just because something wasn’t recorded doesn’t mean it didn’t happen . . . so what was it like for Mary to tell her parents she’s pregnant? How boring was that journey to Bethlehem? Who told Joseph about Mary’s pregnancy?
These sorts of human elements to the Advent story, mostly untold, are the foundation for the devotions.
If you already get my weekly blog posts via email, then you are already signed up for the daily devotions. It’s okay to unsubscribe if you want — it won’t hurt my feelings and it won’t take you off the blog post updates list. I’ll just cry myself to sleep in a drunken state of depression, but that’s more me than you. It’s all cool.
Below is a signup box if you want to be sure you are on the list.
Don’t sign up if:
- You don’t have a sense of humor
- You get uptight about theology
- You can’t handle a bit of language
Plus I promise not to send you stupid crap like pictures of sunsets, coffee cups, or other fluff. My hope is to offer new perspective, truth, and joy.
Please consider encouraging others to sign up for this — thanks!
