I started writing devotions simply for the fun of writing them. It began with a series on Advent and the response was overwhelmingly positive. Thank you!
So I’ve decided to create another series, this time around Lent. As with the first series the framework is a road trip — this time it is the story of Jesus and all those with him as they head toward Jerusalem to celebrate Passover.
Along the way we meet grumpy Samaritans, selfish Pharisees, and deal with disciples who don’t quite understand what’s happening. I also take a bit of liberty with the story and include some very human things that probably happened: Jesus stumbles, embarrasses a law professor, has the Grateful Dead groupies follow him, gets tired, and so forth. He even gets lost at one point.
It’s all a very human story, gritty and real the way junkyard wisdom actually works.
If you want to join us on the road trip, you can sign up in the “Lets Stay in Touch” box on the right. And if you want to check out the Advent devotions there’s a page with links to the most recent twenty here.
I hope you do signup. We’ll start on March 1st!
PS Yeah, I know, the artwork above is for Christmas! But we will change that just as soon as we settle on artwork for the Lent series.
