Last week Belize was struck by Hurricane Lisa. The good news is that all of the PathLight students, staff, and partners are physically safe.
The challenging news, however, is that there’s been significant damage to homes and household items. The flooding harmed everything, from mattresses to digital devices to school uniforms. Even simple things like data cards were corrupted, making it difficult for people to stay connected.
As you know if you read this blog, I grew up working in a junkyard. We were all about figure-it-out and then get-er-done. It didn’t have to be pretty. It just had to work.
The people of Belize are like that – incredibly resilient.
But this is something different. Most of these kids and their families that PathLight works with were already living without a margin. Having your roof blown off and everything in your house soaked to the core … well, it’s tough. It creates a sense of hopelessness.
The local community, relief agencies, friends of PathLight, and others have stepped up to help. I’m hoping we can raise enough to restore a little hope. Can you help? We have set up a page designated for your gifts of any amount. Or you can send us a check. Or Venmo. Whatever works best for you is fine.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, praying for those in Belize, and giving generously.

Full disclosure…the picture above is from a previous hurricane in Belize. But it’s indicative of what happened last week.
