A year ago the board of PathLight International asked me to step in as interim CEO. It’s been a fun year and we accomplished a lot, but it’s time to let someone with new energy lead. That’s why, and you heard it here first, PathLight is going to announce the hiring of Kris Canfield as the new Executive Director. I could not be happier — mostly because Kris is going to be great, but also because it’s time for new leadership.
There is a lot to say about Kris of course, but I’ll resist the temptation to list her accomplishments (here is her LinkedIn profile if such things matter to you). Instead, what really stood out in our interviews was how passionate Kris was for the work PathLight is doing. I’m excited about how this is going to translate into a new era for PathLight.
As for me, obviously I still have a lot going on. My family, our ranch, the real estate company, my writing, and on and on. I do not lack for projects!
Of course, I will be there to support Kris, help her get up to speed, and serve as a good board member. But I will be stepping back from PathLight a bit. The verse Exodus 14:14 keeps popping up in my mind, “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
Or as Eugene Peterson put it in his translation, “… keep your mouth shut.”
We will see how long that lasts.
