The House of the Lord

My month long break begins today. Hallelujah!

For the last month and for the month to come, I’ve been working through prayers and readings in the book “Celtic Daily Prayer”. The Morning Prayer begins like this:

One thing I have asked of the Lord,
this is what I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life;
to behold the beauty of the Lord
and to seek Him in His temple.

Emerging Ministries Again

Had a great Emerging Ministries event today, so I thought I’d repost this entry to remind folks about this under the radar ministry.  Originally posted last May.

Several have asked me to quickly summarize what Emerging Ministries does.  Well, there is no quick definition.  It is emerging itself, and has been since its launch.  But in general, it’s a group of people in the Bay Area who are loosely defined as emerging leaders.  They meet 3-4 times a year, sometimes for one-day events (mini-tables) and sometimes for a 3-day weekend retreat (the roundtable).  Ideas are shared, relationships formed, and …

Church Fatigue

Okay, so I’m in a grumpy mood and need to be curmudgeon for a bit. Sorry, but this entry focuses on a pet peeve of mine.

It came to mind when I had an interesting conversation with a friend.  He will remain nameless because he’s smart enough not to draw attention to himself.
