I’ve had a successful four decade long marriage with my high school sweetheart. I’ve grown a significant company. I’ve served on several distinguished boards. I’ve visited so many countries some don’t exist anymore. I’ve saved thousands of acres of rainforest. I’ve been invited to the White House. I co-founded a ministry that was mentioned on the cover of Christianity Today. I’ve written three books. I’ve raised two great kids who are now adults. I’ve been to some of the finest hotels and restaurants in the world. I’ve been in some of the poorest places on the planet.*
And you know what the number one question I get is?
“Are you going to do another series of junkyard road trip devotions?”
This makes me smile and shake my head all at once. In many ways my devotions are, well, silly. But people love them. We hit 42,000 people on the mailing list and expect it to keep growing. There is something simple, fun, and thoughtful that resonates.
So what’s the answer? Am I going to do more?
Yes. An all new Easter series is in the works. The plan is to release the first one on March 10.
If you have enjoyed them, then please tell others to sign up. I mean, it’s not like this is an expensive proposition — the devotions are free. The only reward I get are small dopamine hits when people tell me they love them. You can direct them here to sign up.
I’m still trying to figure out what to do with the previous devotions. They sit in my google files hiding from the world, and I wonder if it makes sense to put a small booklet together. But if I did, what then? Some say I should sell them, others say I should post them online for everyone to enjoy. To be honest, both options sound like real work. Something I tend to avoid. So we shall see.
For now, you can count on another series for Easter. There is at least one more road trip in my future. I hope you join me.
*To be fair, I did all (most anyway) of those things with the help of a lot of amazing people.
