Salvaged,

Holly and Salvaged

At long last, my second book is available! Salvaged was released on Tuesday.

People have asked how I spent that day celebrating. Truth is I spent it much like I’ve spent the last several days – in the backyard muttering, “Go potty, Holly, go potty.”

Our adorable new puppy keeps us busy. She weighs less than the keyboard I’m using right now (or so it seems) and yet I’ve still begun calling her “killer” for her aggressively playful behavior. She is a pistol!

Regarding Salvaged, I want to thank some of the folks who helped make the book possible. …

Make a Small Mess

Make a small bet. It’s an organizational maxim meaning to test an idea or run an experiment on a small scale before investing significant time or money.

It’s a great practice that has saved me from big mistakes.

One of the chapters I didn’t write for Salvaged was Make a Small Mess. It’s the same principle, but in a distinctively junkyard mindset. Whatever you might do is likely to create a mess. So keep it small. See if the results are worth the mess. Experiment with a small mess before making a really BIG mess.

Pretty cool idea, don’t you …

Salvaged Videos

D’Aun and I made five short videos to promote my new book Salvaged and I thought you’d enjoy seeing them.

Obviously we’re not professional actors — and it shows — but the videos capture the whimsy of the book and I hope they make you laugh. As I wrote in the introduction of Salvaged, “There is a clarity that comes in those moments when we relax, let down our guard, and simply laugh out loud at the silliness of it all — and God laughs with us in those moments.”

Each of the five videos are based on a …

Salvaged,

Influencers

The publisher just shipped me actual hardback copies of Salvaged!

It’s fun to have the actual book in my hand. These early books are meant for “influencers” who will tell the world how great the book is and, hopefully, drive preorders.

Can you suggest people who should get a copy? Typically, it would be people who have a large number of followers. Social media is important of course, but it could also be a journalist, pastor, or anyone who can get the word out to a large number of people.

Just a few examples:

Beth Moore, who has 877,000 …

Two Months Till Launch!

Two months till launch of my second book, Salvaged!

With just two months to go the focus now is to get as many preorders as possible because they drive those indecipherable algorithms on the bestseller lists. The more preorders we get, the higher the book moves up the sales charts. The more it moves up the charts, the more it shows up in searches and recommendations. Which means more people hear about it and buy it.

People respond to honest endorsements, so I’m hoping you can help. One authentic post from you will do more than all my posts combined. …

Book Launch Team

If you’d like to help my book Salvaged get off to a rousing release, please consider joining my book launch team! I’m looking for folks who will help get the word out about the book. Could be social media, hosting an event, blogging, podcast or …. well, send me your creative ideas!

There will be perks of course. I’m not sure what yet. Not-cheap Champagne, maybe? Blueprints for an acetylene powered tennis ball bazooka? Cake and pickles? Tips on cheating at marbles?

How about a flamethrower? Maybe not; the Boring Company Not A Flamethrower by Elon Musk are selling for …
